At about 5:15 a.m., I fell into a trance and believed I heard the Holy Spirit speak. When I awoke, I could not remember the beginning clearly, but the message was essentially: “Because God loved David, He promised to establish him on Israel’s throne forever. This He will soon accomplish in Christ.” At first, I was disappointed because I could not see how this answered the question I had brought before the Lord.
My concern was the lake of fire. As I remained kneeling beside my bed and reflected on what I had heard, another phrase echoed in my spirit: “and He will put all things under His feet.” I returned to full awareness and began considering how these words related to my inquiry.
I thought of David’s reign: after David ascended the throne, the Lord subdued the surrounding nations and gave David peace from enemies. I understood this as a pattern of Christ’s eternal reign on David’s throne. In this interpretation, Christ’s enemies will likewise be subdued and brought under His authority—not annihilated. David’s reign thus serves as a shadow of the things to come.
